ABOUT THIS BLOG

My name is Rebecca Wagoner, and welcome to Hello Hytte- the story of my family’s journey through getting a cabin.

We got the cottage in October of 2016, when after searching for months for the perfect one, we found this. Although not exactly what we were looking for, the views and memories of my own cabin as a child outweighed the old plumbing, barely working heating system, and slowly falling hillside.

So, with my husband, two teenagers, and dog, we decided to jump at the opportunity of making memories to last a lifetime.

The word “hytte” is Norwegian, coming from my family’s Nordic roots but also from a translation off Google. Once we got the cottage, naming it such felt like a nod to our past and preparation of future inspiration.

The rest of my family includes my husband Gage, a motorcycle enthusiast who also had cabin excursions every summer as a kid, my daughter Lola, an extremely smart teenager with a knack for baking, and my son Racer, another teen whose passions include all things video games. Along with us is our dog Ivar, two cats Cleo and Dandelion, and many chickens.

When not at Hytte, we live in northern Seattle facing the gray and rain (almost) every day. When not blogging or crafting, I'm a hairstylist at my salon in Queen Anne called Wink.

I myself am always cooking, rowing, or scouring the internet and library for creative motivation. Through this site, I hope to share my ideas and passions about Hytte (the cabin) or my personal life. If you have any ideas or comments, feel free to share in the comments.

So, if you’re either a long time friend or a random person off the internet looking for creativity just like I was, please explore Hello Hytte to learn all about the recipes, crafts, inspiration, or simple things going on in my life.
